Jen R. Hartman, Ph.D., LCMHCS (NC), RPT, NCC is a mental health counselor and assistant professor at the Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She teaches graduate students as affiliate faculty in the Thanatology Certificate program at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. Dr. Hartman received her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of the Cumberlands. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor-Supervisor (LCMHCS) in North Carolina, a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Her research interests include grief and loss, political determinants of health, and social, climate, and reproductive justice issues. During the pandemic, she facilitated COVID loss groups for the Tristesse Grief Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and has volunteered at Camp Erin, a bereavement camp for grieving youth. She served on the Grief Counseling Competencies Task Force for the Association of Adult Development and Aging.
